Although I am unathletic, I do love watching professional tennis on TV. I love the big games such as Wimbledon, and the French and US Opens. I can't always keep up with the news and scores though because of work and family obligations. Now with the 2009 US Open app, I am going to be very educated about this big upcoming game. The app is a very polished and attractive one. When you open it, you have a screen with 12 buttons designating the following: News (news updates on and off the court), Scores (live, scoring updates), Schedule (daily play schedule), Draws (main draw brackets), Video (on demand video highlights), Photos (stunning photo coverage), Players, Tweets (US Open official tweets), US Radio (live, streaming radio and play-by-play coverage), Spectator Info (a fan's guide to the Open, featuring maps to the ground, etc.), IBM & The US Open and Share. There are helpful text zoom buttons to increase/decrease font size. These are designated as 'T-' and 'T+'. If you are in a particular section of the app such as Photos, just tap 'Home' at the bottom of the screen to get back to the 12 buttons. The app runs smoothly and well, and will be very informative especially when the 2009 Open is up and running.

"The USTA and IBM with special features from American Express are pleased to offer the official iPhone app for the 2009 US Open Tennis championships. Follow the action live during the open August 31st to September 13th, 2009."

--Tech Jargon: WiMax - Unlike Wi-Fi, which covers an area of a few hundred feet, WiMax networks are capable of extending over several square miles. WiMax antennas will be able to beam high-speed Internet connections to homes and businesses miles aways, eliminating the need for every building to be wired to the Internet. And eventually, by beaming signals over entire metropolitan areas and beyond, WiMax will allow true wireless mobility, the ability to use your laptop, unwired, to get on the Internet from all over the map, not just at the so-called hotspots where Wi-Fi antennas currently provide such access.
