Vonage Mobile for iPhone

COST: Free
DESCRIPTION: Lifestyle, Native, Social Networking
..RELEASED: 9/24/09, VERSION: 1.0 -- RATING: 3 Stars..

It's wonderful to be able to bypass the cellphone carriers who are mightily expensive when it comes to international calls, and instead use those carriers who make mobile apps for this purpose. Vonage is just such a one. It is incredibly easy to set up and start making calls. Initially, you will only need to set up e-mail, phone number and password. You will be called at your phone number at which time you will enter a pin number. That's it. There is $1 worth of credit given you to start making your calls. You don't have to dial any prefixes, use any cards, or go through any rigmarole. Vonage takes its numbers straight from your Contacts list and dials them as they are recorded in your list. That's because Vonage works with your existing mobile plan so you don't have to make any changes to accommodate it. What I appreciate most about Vonage is the great sound quality, with no static, buzzing or other strange noises which is common when calling certain places overseas. Start calling your family and friends now for very little, and enjoy keeping up with old acquaintances.

"Get the Vonage Mobile app and save more than 50% on international calls to dozens of countries. Vonage uses cellular or WiFi networks to make international calls at incredibly low rates."

--OS and Age Rating:  This app requires OS 3.0 or later. Rated 4+.
--Tip: Vonage has some of the best international rates with no minimum call time or hidden fees.
--Languages: English
--Developer: Vonage

Fun Stuff - Word of The Day:
fixed wireless - A network service in which wireless devices or systems are situated in fixed, stationary locations (such as an office or home) and data is transmitted via large antennas (as opposed to wireless mobile devices, such as cell phones or PDAs). Fixed wireless devices normally derive their electrical power from utility mains, as opposed to portable wireless devices, which derive their power from batteries. The biggest advantages of fixed wireless networks include the fastest data throughput (up to T1 speed) and the ability to connect users in remote areas without laying new cable (because the technology uses satellites).
