With Battery Go, you get a simple and easy-to-use app which gives you a display of what really counts. This would be icons designating the functions of the Web, Phone, Music and Video. The numbers displaying hours and minutes are beneath each function, and there is a slider bar on top of all these icons displaying the percentage of what is left in overall battery time. This app is simple enough to use and read, and functions pretty accurately. Keep it handy so you don't get caught with your battery on "red".

Phobias 500 is certainly an interesting app with a whole new set of terminology for me to learn. I can't think of any phobias which I have. I mean, I don't like reptiles, but I'm not phobic about them. However, I find it pretty interesting to see all the different phobias that do exist because it helps to understand certain people in a better way. Phobias 500 contains a selection of 500 phobias and definitions. There is one listed per page, and you only have to shake or tap your phone to move to the next page and phobia. You may also swipe left/right or up/down to move to previous and next phobias. You will be amazed at the amount of phobias you will find. The app is educational, but could be slightly more organized with alphabetical or type listings. I'm sure that will soon be remedied, however. In the meantime, you can impress your friends with your new found knowledge.

Although I am unathletic, I do love watching professional tennis on TV. I love the big games such as Wimbledon, and the French and US Opens. I can't always keep up with the news and scores though because of work and family obligations. Now with the 2009 US Open app, I am going to be very educated about this big upcoming game. The app is a very polished and attractive one. When you open it, you have a screen with 12 buttons designating the following: News (news updates on and off the court), Scores (live, scoring updates), Schedule (daily play schedule), Draws (main draw brackets), Video (on demand video highlights), Photos (stunning photo coverage), Players, Tweets (US Open official tweets), US Open.org Radio (live, streaming radio and play-by-play coverage), Spectator Info (a fan's guide to the Open, featuring maps to the ground, etc.), IBM & The US Open and Share. There are helpful text zoom buttons to increase/decrease font size. These are designated as 'T-' and 'T+'. If you are in a particular section of the app such as Photos, just tap 'Home' at the bottom of the screen to get back to the 12 buttons. The app runs smoothly and well, and will be very informative especially when the 2009 Open is up and running.

Pin Me

I think Pin Me is a really helpful tool to have when traveling, or when you are having friends over. If you are traveling and get lost, simply send a Pin Me e-mail to your host and then they can help you with directions from there. Conversely, if someone is coming over or meeting you out somewhere, you can send them your location so they can easily find you. If you are stuck in traffic somewhere and late for a date or appointment, go ahead and send a Pin Me e-mail so that your date knows you are where you really say you are, and knows to expect you later! When you send out an e-mail with Pin Me, it is a plain text mail that carries the URL of the Google map location. The link should be clickable on most phones and e-mail software. You can also use Pin Me to send a text message by using the recipient's e-mail address carrier domain. There is no end to the host of useful scenarios whereby you can use this locator map. I would definitely keep it handy to avoid frustration in getting to a location, and meeting up with friends.

"Pin Me sends out an e-mail or an SMS with a Google Map map link to show your current location. It works on all generations of iPhone and iPod Touch though OS 3.0 is required. Everything is done within the app. When Pin Me is launched it shows a map with your current location. Compose and send the e-mail within the app. The e-mail address are obtained from within your iPhone Contacts settings.
