I don't look back on my early childhood years and wish I could do them all over again. However, there are so many wonderful tech gadgets and software nowadays, that I just KNOW that I would have excelled in Math had I used those instructional aids back then. Arithmaroo 1: A Counting Math Game for Kids is exactly what I am talking about. With this excellent iPhone education app, you are making Math into a very entertaining game that increases your knowledge all at the same time. Arithmaroo 1 is just perfect for Preschool and Elementary age children and offers easier math counting problems building up to two-digit questions. When you answer a question correctly, you hear a little bird sing - which is very rewarding to little children, but when you answer incorrectly, you hear a gentle beep. As a part-time teacher of this age group, I do believe in this method of positive reinforcement with a very soft nudge if an answer is incorrect. On playing the game, you may enter your name as a player so that you can keep individual track of scores with multiple siblings. Some of the helpful features of this educational app are as follows:
- Dots and fingers in patterns on cave walls
- 4 difficulty levels- Level 1: 1-5, Level 2: 6-10, Level 3: 11-20, Level 4: 1-50
- Player's score: "You've got it!", "You're faster!", "You're instant!"
- Times and scores saved for up to 4 players
- Simple keypads for numbers up to 20 and a calculator for higher numbers
- An entertaining didgeridoo and flute tune
- 18 friendly bird sounds for correct answers
- A fun game format
When you open Arithmaroo, you will hear musical sounds representing a kangaroo springing around, while you decide if you should Sign In with your name, or play as a Guest. For several children, I recommend signing in each one to track their progress. Press Play, then choose which level you would like to play of 4 varying levels depending on the number learning skills of your child. In Level 1, you are given dots or fingers to count then tap the corresponding number on the pad underneath. You will hear one of 18 soft bird songs when you guess correctly. Level 2 will display up to 10 counting items, Level 3 displays up to 20 items, and Level 4 up to 50 items. If you want to check the Scoreboard, you will see it arranged in a grid with your score listed for each level played, along with icons labeled, "Got It", "Faster" or "Instant" depending on how many games you have played and the score. There is no clutter of graphics on Arithmaroo 1. Instead you will notice soft, earthy colors reminiscent of nature. This makes it all the easier for your child to concentrate on the task at hand. What makes Arithmaroo 1instructional and simple is that you get to correspond patterns with numbers which is perfect for young children. Motivational bird songs, the ease in counting large objects, and tapping on a large keypad will guarantee success for your child and instill a well-deserved sense of confidence. Arithmaroo 1 is the perfect tool to train and educate your child simultaneously!
