I pride myself on an extensive vocabulary since as a child, we had to study the dictionary for language homework! I appreciate my strict teacher now though as I can go head to head with winners in any vocabulary or spelling bee contest! This is why Vocab U caught my attention. It is a fascinating word game consisting of an interesting mix of word scramble, word search and boggle. You are given a definition at the top of your display, a set of empty tiles in the middle, and an arrangement of letters underneath. Basically, you search for letters in this arrangement to make the correct word matching the definition. Word game lovers, you are bound to enjoy this challenging iPhone game. Now, the object of this game is to solve 50 word puzzles! Notice there are 10 words in each of 5 levels. Also, beware the levels get tougher as you move through the definitions. Each word has a unique point value which determines your final score. If you are stuck on a word, and you probably will be, feel free to slide the screen backwards or forward to your next new or unfinished word. This means you can keep plugging away at the elusive letters until the light bulb goes off in your head! If you are a truly compulsive, competitive soul, you will want to race the clock to complete your words. If you just want to kick back and relax, don't use the clock at all. Something I really like about Vocab U is its thoughtfulness in providing hints or change to another definition when I am stymied. I never look a gift horse in the mouth! - Drag and drop letters for easy game play

When you open Vocab U, the screen will give you Menu, Shuffle and Hint buttons. You should tap Menu and then How To Play to read through some excellent and descriptive instructions on how to enjoy this unique game. I very much appreciated its instruction manual appearance which includes arrows pointing to features and comprehensive coverage of all the good stuff included. Simply slide through pages by tapping the side arrows. You are also given a tutorial video which additionally demonstrates how to play. You may use the Hint feature if you get stuck, but you must have a minimum of 10 points to do so. Use the Shuffle button to change the order of the letters in the scrambled box. When words are correctly completed, they turn green, but if they are incorrect or incomplete they turn red. I don't like to boast, but I did upload my score to Facebook at the end of the game. Without a doubt, Vocab U will both educate and entertain you at the same time. Why not find out just how smart you are?
