The medical field has a language all its own with abbreviations and terminology that must be memorized or noted in order to provide correct care to patients. To this end, iMed Terms has prepared a reference list of medical terminology that will specifically benefit doctors, nurses, paramedics, EMTs, health records analysts, students and anybody in the medical field. Though not in the medical field myself, I am curious enough to want to learn about some of these terms for my own edification. Some of the useful features of iMed Terms are as follows:
  • over 15,000 unique terms and definitions, more than any other application
  • abbreviations, symbols and medical slang with terms and definitions
  • source used for every entry
  • live search updates as you type
  • switch between search terms only or terms and definitions
  • browse all entries by sorted index
  • integrated Google and Wikipedia searches with embedded browser
  • clean, elegant, easy to use user interface
  • adherence to Apple's iPhone Human Interface Guidelines
  • made by a Canadian Paramedic and future RN student with 15 years of software development experience
This app is clear and concise, very simple in design and does exactly what it is supposed to do. It helps you search and find the necessary language in which to describe a patient's condition, symptoms or disease. iMed Terms is a very handy reference tool for the medical profession, or those wanting to understand their doctor's jargon for their own peace of mind.

churn - Another word for turnover. For example, "It is said that about forty percent of U.S. job growth is in IT and that those in the industry change jobs on average every eighteen months, amounting to an increasingly high churn rate, compared with past decades."
