Science games are a lot of intelligent fun, but I find they are far and few between. Bill Nye The Science Guy is a great reminder that science can be fun and teach you many valuable lessons at the same time. Mineral Quiz is another entertaining science game or lesson. Teachers could use it for educational purposes, or those with a love of learning would benefit from the facts contained in the app.
The game consists of 50 illustrated questions about different minerals. Each question has 4 possible answers. When you tap one of the answers, the default color of the pressed button is changed for a while to green if it was the right answer, or to red indicating a wrong answer. You have 3 attempts to tap the right answer.
In Mineral Quiz, if you answer correctly on the first attempt, you will receive 3 points, and on the third attempt only 1 point. After 2 wrong answers the hint with the chemical formula of the mineral will be shown to help you. Excellent images representing the minerals are displayed. This is a science game app that is simple, but covers one topic well.
