There's nothing better to me than reading an exciting book with lots of mystery and intrigue involved. Did you know the same holds true for kids? They love a good adventure and searching for hidden items much like a scavenger hunt. Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island is a wonderful interactive story to grab kids' attention, and get them "digging" for gold in an extraordinary treasure hunt designed just for them! Children 5 years and up will be totally engrossed taking part in this lovely story.

Let me first explain that Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island is adapted from an award winning children’s book by Karen Robertson. The actual book is unique in that not only is it filled with excitement, but it comes with little treasure chests of objects with which the kids interact as they read. There are different Treasure Kai books with a similar theme that have children using all their senses and imagination to unearth hidden mysteries and treasures. Turning this excellent physical book into an electronic one is a true accomplishment as it mirrors the original so closely. Yet the app is so much more thrilling with music, sound and interaction. In this particular story, lost gold treasure is eagerly sought by little Kai. Your children will be totally absorbed when embarking upon the trail of gold with lots of exciting animations, surprises and sound effects.

Your story starts off by introducing Kai, his friend Kate and where they live. You get a great feel for Kai's adventurous personality here. One night as he is going to sleep, Kai begins to dream and finds himself rowing out to Shark Island where the action begins. In the story, Kai will explore jungles, castles and pyramids and find a treasure chest of sparkling jewels. Interactivity is the key that keeps kids turning the pages, and thirsting after more adventure and knowledge. They will find plenty of all these things in Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island.

One of the cool things you can do while progressing through the app is move reading text boxes around and enlarge them as necessary. My special delight is turning on and off Kai's night table lamp which is just a small example of great attention paid to details throughout. Perfectly suited adventure sound tracks add intrigue to the story. To me it almost seems that Kai is a miniature Indiana Jones in this exciting book where he must escape mazes and pass by spooky skeletons and other daunting obstacles. You'll find bats, snakes and native warriors. But in the end, finding the treasure box of jewels makes it all worthwhile! Tap the end page to start this wondrous adventure all over again!

This book has a little bit of everything in it to absorb all your senses: beautiful graphics, rhymes that give you hints on solving the puzzles, awesome sound effects, action and adventure in other mysterious worlds. The feeling of accomplishment on finding the gold is wonderful. After all, who wouldn't enjoy unearthing a chest of gold coins and sparkling jewels after a well-thought out, exciting journey to get there?
