I'm not sure why I'm on a financial kick these days, but we are at mid-year, and might as well start getting the financial household in order, so to speak! Anyway, not saying that you have medical expenses or anything so morbid, but a necessary fact of life is having good health insurance coverage at your job. And you should be using it for annual exams of all kinds if you want to take preventative measures with your health. On that line of thought is the convenient financial app, Medical Tracker.
Medical Tracker does all sorts of helpful things to keep your medical expenses under control and easily visible so you can see where your money goes. Some of the convenient and important features of this medical financial iPad app are as follows:
- See how much is being spent on medical and insurance costs.
- Keep track of submitted and unsubmitted expenses.
- Monitor insurance payments, and claims not processed.
- Verify amount applied to insurance deductible.
- Track flexible savings account submissions and payments.
- View annual summary of costs, expenses and insurance payments, to help you make better insurance coverage choices.

Other buttons at the bottom of your screen include Insurances & FSA, Report, Charts, and Backup. The Expenses screen has many detailed fields in which to enter your information such as Visit Date, Visit Type, Patient, Doctor/Hospital, Description/Code, Expense Amount, Paid at Visit and so forth. I was very impressed with the ease of entering information in the fields. For example, when you tap Visit Date, a calendar will appear so no typing is necessary. The same applies to Visit Type when a dropdown list including Dental, Medical, Other Pharmacy, Vision or customized Other appear. When you enter any information in these dropdown menus, it is saved to be used over and over again to simplify data entry.
There is an amazing Expense Detail chart which you can view when ready. The Report tab holds reams of information on all the fields you have utilized. As I work in a doctor's office, I can actually see the usefulness and convenience this could be to many patients who come in and are totally confused as to their billing status, last visit, what services were performed and so on. Truly, while this iPad app is free, I would grab it! It is well put together, very comprehensive in medical payment issues, and something every one of us should use to keep our medical, vision, dental, hospital, pharmacy and other records straight! This app definitely earns a "Truly Cool" seal of approval from me!
