Browsing through the many photography apps today, I decided to give Snapseed a try to see how it measured up to other photo editing apps. This universal app contains so many editing tweaks that you will spend hours playing with your holiday photos inserting multiple effects thus adding pizzaz to them. Discovr Movies

Movies on the big screen, DVD, Blu Ray or your TV are always a great entertainment source, particularly when you are enjoying them with a friend. The problem is that there are so many genres, actors, ratings and differentiating characteristics, it is often hard to pick a movie that suits your tastes perfectly. You hate to spend big bucks at the theater for a movie that didn't transport you to faraway places with its excellence. You need a method to weed through the chaff and find exactly the type of movie you want to spend a couple hours watching.

Discovr Movies helps sift through the amazing multitude of movies that are available by being interactive and using your input and tastes to narrow the choices (sort of like Pandora). Discovr Movies is really simple to navigate. To find your way around the plethora of movies from the past, present and future in this iPhone movie review app, simply:

- Single tap to see similar movies.
- Double tap to see movie details
- Tap & Hold for more options.

First of all, Discovr Movies is similar to Discovr Music in that you tap on a movie to see it "blooming" and displaying types or "buds" of similar movies. In this way, I like to explain away the Discovr apps technique as "blooming ideas", while other folks see the these apps with their discoverable content as "spokes on a wheel".

In any case, tap your way through movies that interest you only to discover similar movies. Check out what's Trending and in Cinemas currently. When you find a movie that looks interesting, view the Synopsis, Cast, Clips, Reviews and helpful Links. Share all this great info with friends via Facebook, Twitter or email, and mark your Favorites too. See what Rotten Tomatoes has to say about the movies that intrigue you. It's amazing how one great movie will lead to another!

Skitch for iPad

Sometimes you must explain a rather intricate detail to a friend or family member. This could be a specific location, key instructions, an item on a piece of paper, in short - something to which you wish to call attention. This makes it much easier for the recipient to look at your note, photo or email and find the item you are trying to pinpoint.

Skitch for iPad does a fantastic job of providing plenty tools with which to highlight the important information you wish to get across. With Skitch you use tools such as shapes, arrows, sketches and text annotation to explain yourself easily and quickly. Pinpoint items on photos, screenshots, maps, and webpages so that those you share them with will "get the message" very quickly. Some of the clever and detailed features of Skitch are as follows:

- Edit: Reposition, recolor and remove your annotations at will
- Share: Send your sketches and annotations over Twitter and email

Can you see the value of Skitch in your personal or business life now? There are so many uses for this handy app, and just the right tools to make even Grandma Sally understand what you are trying to show her (which may be an item on sale, or coupon at her local store)! In the business world, Skitch comes in useful as you make presentations which outline the important facts using arrows, text or shapes. Integration with Evernote makes this app even more handy as you save your special notes. Go ahead and simplify your presentations or thoughts to a friend using Skitch to simplify your words-the recipient of your notes will be happy to receive simple-to-read ideas.

Voxer Walkie-Talkie PTT

Christmas came and went quicker than the blink of an eye. Today, I've had so many people ask if Santa had treated me well, and I've not come up with a glib and easy answer! Okay, so I didn't get an iPhone 4S (bah humbug!), but I've redoubled my efforts at finding cool apps to take my mind off that sad fact! I found Voxer® while surfing the App Store and was pretty impressed with its neat function of acting as a walkie-talkie. In fact, Voxer Walkie-Talkie PTT is a walkie-talkie app whereby you can send instant audio, text, photo and location messages to one or several friends. The interesting thing is that the recipient of your calls may listen to your message instantaneously while you talk (walkie-talkie style), or hear them later in a sort of voice-mail fashion. Some of the features of Voxer are as follows:

- Live walkie-talkie
- Cross Platform Messenger
- Voice, Text, Photos and Location can be added to your messages
- Group chats
- Works over WiFi, 3G and any other data network
- Get notifications for new messages
- Create messages even offline
- Play voice messages
- Connect with Facebook friends

Sign up quickly when you start Voxer. I used my Facebook ID to do this, and the app quickly found friends who used Voxer that were on my Facebook or Contacts list. Tap the menu block icon on the top, right side of your display to see options such as: Find Friends, Start a Group, Invite Friends, Profile, Settings and Support. I found friends and invited several to walkie-talk with me. The Settings button gives options to Share Location, Hold and Talk (a must for me), Sort by First Name or First Name First. Definitely check out the Help section in the Support tab as you will find useful questions and answers located there. Voxer is pretty neat to use for Group talking also and makes it convenient when arranging or meeting at a certain location. I find Voxer particularly helpful in an international setting. For instance, if your friend lives overseas, and you don't want to pay long-distance charges, use this app to make simple conversation with him or her if you don't feel like a full-blown Facetime conversation, or paying for a long distance call.

To talk, just tap the friend's name in your new Voxer list, then tap the Hold and Talk bar at the bottom of your display (be sure to wait a couple seconds before you talk). The message is received instantly by the recipient who can then respond to you by repeating the same steps. Send a Photo, Text or Location when you talk also, if you wish. This 2-way conversation can go on as long as you like. If you are not available to talk, the message will remain in the app for you to check later. The speaker box at the top of your display allows you to use Handset or Speaker, Delete Chat or Mark All Heard. Voxer is definitely an innovative and useful app which can be enjoyed cross-platform with friends at any time, with all voice and conversation messages being free of charge.

COOL CONCLUSION: "Voxer Walkie-Talkie PTT is a fun and efficient way to communicate when you need to get a quick message out, but don't want to get tied up in a long phone call."

Tip of My Tongue

Playing a word game and getting stuck on a word? It happens all the time. You need a specific word letter placement or amount of letters, but it takes a great deal of brainpower to position all possible words in this way. Use Tip of My Tongue to help you out of a tough word jam! It contains a list of 125,000 words which will help get your game playing smoothly. Internet access is only required if you must look up the definition of a word. Here's a rundown of how Tip of My Tongue works:

1) Word Length:

Specify the shortest and longest acceptable word lengths here.

2) Letters:

Specify which letters must be and cannot be in the word that you are looking for.

3) Partial Words:

If you know the prefix or suffix (starts with 'ada' or ends with 'nt') then specify that here.

4) Solve Word Games:

To solve a Hangman word-puzzle, type in the known letters and use the '.' (period) symbol for missing letters. To get a list of all the words that can be made using a particular set of letters (like a word jumble puzzle or 7-8 tiles in Scrabble), type those in the 'Unscramble' field.

Once the app is running, you can begin your search. Results are shown immediately on the iPad. However, on iPhone and iPod you must tap the 'Search' button. This app is very useful for either your literary pleasure in remembering words that would fit a situation perfectly, or in playing a game where you only have certain letters with which to work.

As you probably know by now, photo manipulation is one of my favorite past-times. This is true because I am neither a great photographer nor artist at all! Therefore, being able to drop my mediocre photos into gorgeous pre-made templates is a huge bonus and a must-have photo option for me. I use all Imikimi products to make "diamonds" out of my "rough stone" photography attempts. Imikimi templates contain bold, high-resolution color and a myriad of designs.
