Especially because today is Father's Day, I've been scouring the App Store for any new and interesting greeting card apps. I was pleased to find one I had not noticed before called PepBlast Animated 200+ eCards. Though there are a few great card apps out there, they are small in number as compared to games, utilities, music and other such apps. PepBlast can be commended for being so easy to use and fast performance. There are a large assortment of greetings included, but let's take a look at the overall features of this iPhone, iPad greeting card app:

- 200+ eCards designs: I counted at least 30 in most categories
- Over 40 eCard collections: A few of the 40 categories include Congratulations, Father's Day, Flowers, Friends, Graduation, Good Luck, Hello, Love, Mother's Day
- Animated video eCards with cool songs: Each animated video clip card loads in seconds and plays with music
- Personalized message: Plenty of room to write your special message
- Browse and Preview: Make sure your card is perfect before sending
- Send eCard by email or Facebook: By email your recipient you will receive a link from which to retrieve the card
- View eCards on PCs, Smartphones, Tablets, etc.

Once you have selected the specific greeting category you need from the rotating dial list, then thumbnails will appear with a brief description of the included cards. Tap one, it loads quickly and previews exactly what you will be sending to family and friends. 3 fields only appear which you must complete: To (the name of your recipient), Note (your own greeting), and From (list your name here). You are given the option to send the card via Facebook or Email.

If you send via Email, your native mail app will open where you will enter the recipient's address and send the card on its way with a link where your friend may retrieve it. This whole process takes no more than 2 minutes to complete. You may purchase unlimited PepBlast e-cards for $1.99 via the in-app PRO purchase, or else use the free app with a card number limitation. In playing with PepBlast, I really enjoyed the mini clips, audio, and excellent quality of both. This is an excellent service and source of quick-send, user-friendly greetings of all kinds.

Preparing the actual wording, obligatory family picture, envelope recipient, sender and so forth all require time. Today, I actually put my Christmas card together using Carded in a matter of minutes.

Carded lets you send both electronic or paper cards depending on your preference. It provides many lovely templates with a built-in greeting, inserts your favorite pic, and sends the finished card on its way! You may mail cards to your loved ones using Email, Facebook, Twitter, text or order paper cards for for $1.99 each which does include postage. Launch Carded and see the many categories included from which you can select your card. Within categories are several gorgeous backgrounds you may select upon which to insert your pic. Once you select your favorite background, tap the layout you prefer, add your photo from Camera or choose Existing from your photo album, or even use the many pics included by Carded in the Photo Library! (Did you know there are over 50,000 design possibilities?) Press Done and now it's time to create the back of the card which is also similarly designed to the front. Add in any personal signature or wording using the multi-colored and multi-tipped pen. If you wish, add in a Sender Pic (yes, that's you!). If the card is to be sent by snail mail, a spot is allocated where you will add in the address.


Hit the Send arrow, and choose from: Printed Card, Email, Facebook, Twitter or Save to Camera Roll. I saved to Camera Roll, then printed out my professional looking Christmas postcard on my Photosmart wireless printer. The result was gorgeous. I could have purchased this card from any store for all its polished look! I've already popped my card in the postal mail to several friends today. I can also go ahead and send this to family members using email. So you could say I've multi-tasked on my Christmas card sending and come up with some beautiful results. Carded is so easy to use, takes a few taps to create a masterpiece, and is wonderfully free!

William Shatner has an astronomically long list of works performed during his ongoing career. You may not be familiar with all of them, but know him best as Captain Kirk from the incredible TV show, Star Trek, with its multiple follow-up movies. When growing up, I remember how the family would eagerly follow his gallant frame and charming persona from week to week. When Shatner starred in movies, off we would go to see them!

This brilliant actor now has his very own iOS app call Shatoetry. I'd say it's rather a clever and wholly unique idea. In this app, you are provided with a large list of words. You put them together in the form you prefer, and William Shatner will recite them back to you. So what do you have with this dialog? Well, you could most definitely call it a Shatism, and it's all part of the very fun Shatoetry app. Here's how you go about playing this entertaining William Shatner word game and poetry iPhone app:

- Using the words provided, spoken by Shatner, drag the ones (including pauses) you want to the screen
- Compose the chosen words into a sentence or literary form of your choice
- Tap a word to emphasize or change the tone of it
- Tap a pause to make it longer and more dramatic
- Now tap the Shat That button to play back your unique composition of sentence, phrase or poetry
- Share your Shatisms on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or via email

Shatoetry can be vastly comical, building on Shatner's great sense of humor. The spoken phrases often are also reminiscent of his dramatic tendencies throughout many of his movies. Play with friends (or Shatoetists!) on the Game Center whereby each gets to create their own magnificent sentence. Everyone has a time limit during their own turn to place words on the app before the buzzer sounds. There's a cute twist to this game too! You can send words in the Shat's voice in the form of comments or messages which will no doubt make your friends chuckle! I personally like a card that is sentimental, but not overly so while using a dash of humor blended in for balance.
